Manshee Zheng (b. 2002, Beijing) is an artist based in Amsterdam, working across installation, fashion objects, and autofictional text. Her practice orbits spectacle-driven desire and the tension between sterile surfaces and psychological violence. Through manufactured materials, digital fabrication, and representation, she constructs controlled, seductive scenes that operate as mechanisms of exhibitionistic hiding — simultaneously hypervisible and hollowed out. At the same time, her writing — arriving as ritualistic diary entries, prose, image-text, and gossip that hover between mundane reality and fantasy — increasingly haunts and exposes the “hole”: a lingering state of compulsive dissociation, bodily abjection, and the eroticised push-pull toward performative self-destruction. As Bernardo Soares (Fernando Pessoa) writes: “Let us play hide-and-seek with our consciousness of living.”
